School Age Camp

 

Join Miami Township Police Officer Kevin Petrocelli for 5 days of DARE (Drug Awareness Resistance Education) summer camp. Adventures abound while spending time working on self-esteem and team building exercises. 

Please download and fill out the waivers for the camp and turn them in on the first day of camp.  If a waiver is NOT properly filled out and signed than a camper will not be permited to participate in the scheduled activity.  Click on the activity name to download the waiver.  If you have problems downloading the forms just let the recreation office know  at (513) 248-3727 and we will provide one for you on the first day of camp.

DARE – Extreme! - FULL

June 25 – Woodland Lakes Christian Camp - 3054 Lindale-Mt Holly Rd, Amelia, OH 45102
Outdoor climbing facility over 40 ft tall with routes of varying difficulty including tower, vertical matrix and a Giant Swing.
Campers wear sturdy shoes; bring sack lunch and water bottle.

June 26 – Little Miami Canoe Rental – Rafting trip and lunch on the river. Wear swim suit* under your clothes because campers will get wet! Wear sturdy shoes that will get wet. No Flip Flops. Campers bring sack lunch & water bottle. * Girls wear one piece modest swimsuit or modest water clothing when required.

June 27 – Full Throttle Indoor Carting – Campers bring sack lunch & plenty of water to drink. Wear sturdy shoes with closed toes. NO sandals, flip flops, croc’s or high heels. Girls do NOT wear skirts.

Let's start the week off with some rudimentary games like marbles, pick up sticks and four square. As the week progresses we will set up memory, monopoly and twister. On Wednesday, wear something you don't mind getting wet because you will be playing outdoor/water games!  Friday we'll break out BINGO and have a game play off in Mancala.

BEGINNING CHEER CAMP - FULL

Join Michelle Veite, former Cheerleader at Xavier University, for this fun filled camp.  Your child will learn cheerleading skills.  They will jump, clap, yell and dance their way in a mini-camp designed for young children.  Come and join the fun and meet new friends in the area!

YOUNG REMBRANDTS Drawing Camp – Worldly Artistic Designs

July 1 - 3 (3 days)

New this summer, Young Rembrandts offers our chalk pastel drawing class while exploring multicultural art in our Worldly Artistic Designs workshop. We begin our world tour as we draw several welcoming, colorful and intricately-designed crafts from around the globe. Our artistic enlightenment includes a design study embraced by many cultures.  Our travels end as we illustrate a mainstay of architecture. These classes will be messy fun, so dress appropriately.

MAGIC CAMP I

July 8 - 10 or July 15-17 (3 days)

This MAGIC class is taught by Jason Jacobs, teacher at McCormick Elementary, who will teach you basic magic tricks.  Each day you get a new bag of tricks to take home and dazzle your family and friends with your newfound hobby.

Learn the facets of video production with professional Will Menz, our very own Videographer including planning, scripting & shooting.  Creating fun projects, kids will work in collaborative groups and learn about framing, camera control and basic interviewing skills.  They will have their very own DVD with the productions from the camp to show their family & friends.

SAFETY COMES FIRST CAMP

This camp is NEW this year!  Come hang out with Miami Township Police Officer Kevin Petrocelli while learning bus, home & personal safety.  Topics include stranger danger and how to be a good friend.  Fun team building activities include scavenger hunt, water play, tug-o-war, ball games, and hiking the Loveland Trail.  Friday will be a blast of a day with a grilled lunch provided and Olympic challenges!  Note:  All activities will take place at Miami Riverview Park. 

COOKING CAMP - FULL

This camp is back by popular demand and includes hands on cooking for kids.  We will teach kitchen safety, measuring, how to follow simple recipes and learn some table manners too (parents -  don't tell the kids about that part!)  This camp uses nut, wheat, egg and other possible allergen ingredients.

CHEMISTRY ADVENTURE CAMP - FULL

Nina Veite is a chemistry and biology double major at Wilmington College and she just loves Science!  She would like to teach your kids some basic chemistry by demonstrating the difference between physical and chemical reactions through simple experiments.  They will learn how to make slime, homemade ice cream without a crank, and how to make fun and fizzy reactions with diet pop/mentos and vinegar/baking soda.  Kids will learn lab safety and about the different stages of matter in this fun filled science camp!

    

AMAZING ART CAMP - FULL

July 29 - August 2

Let your kids' creativity run wild in this week packed with hands-on arts and crafts. Instructor Katie Ackerman will lead campers in all different types of art projects and activities, including a full day of tie dye!  We will also play fun games and meet new friends. At the end of the week, campers will have at least five creations to take home.

SURVIVOR CHALLENGE CAMP

July 29 - August 2

This camp will be filled with team challenges such as a Scrabble contest, a scavenger hunt, tug of war, slap math, food knowledge, setting up camp, an obstacle course, and we will end the week with an exciting "challenge event" that will show who the real survivors are.   

DANCE CAMP

Join instructor, Katie Ackerman. for a week of dancing and fun!  We will spend Mon-Thurs learning different styles and a routine and performance for our parents on Friday.  Your kids will be instructed in different areas of dance, as well as, yoga stretches to warm up and cool down.  We will have various activities and meet lots of new friends!

YOUNG REMBRANDTS Pastel Drawing Camp – Household Pets

August 13 - 15 (3 days)

New this summer, our students will be elated as we celebrate our cuddly friends in the new Household Pets camp.  We will draw a stylized graphic, cartoon images and more realistic renderings of various household pets. And on the last day of class, we will create a wonderful pet-inspired, pastel illustration.
