The Miami Township Police Department and the Board of Trustees presented Susan Radabaugh with the Law Enforcement Citizen's Award for her efforts in helping catch a burglar. On May 16, police were dispatched to an address on Wolfpen Pleasant Hill road for reports of a burglary. While investigating Ms. Radabaugh approached police and told them of a suspicious vehicle she had seen in the area.
She described seeing a gray Ford parked in the driveway and two white males at the house. One remained in the car while she witnessed the other running from around the side of the house - through the yard and getting into the car. Most importantly, she noted the license plate number of the vehicle.
After further investigation by Detective Bradford, two juveniles were located and charged in connection with the burglary and, in addition, were charged in two other burglaries which recently occured in Miami Township.
"Ms. Radabugh's attention to detail and her keen observations and memory played a major role in solving this case" said Chief Steve Bailey. "Without her help, it is unknown if we would have ever solved these crimes."
Chief R. Steven Bailey has been Chief of the Miami Township Police Department since May 1995. Chief Bailey graduated from the 203d Session of the FBI National Academy in December 2000. He is a graduate of Class 119 of the Northwestern University Traffic Institute School of Police Staff and Command. He is also a graduate of Session 16 of the Ohio Police Executive Leadership College (P.E.L.C.).
