Meet the Chief
CHIEF ROBERT HIRSCH
Robert Hirsch began his law enforcement career by enlisting in the United States Army Military Police Corps following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. He was selected to serve as a canine handler and, with his patrol/explosive detector dog (Jack), escorted both domestic and foreign dignitaries across the world in constant support of the United States Secret Service, United States State Department, and Department of Defense. Robert Hirsch was progressively promoted through the ranks and attained the rank of Sergeant before completing his enlistment and being honorably discharged.
Robert Hirsch attended the Great Oaks Police Academy where he was named the valedictorian of his police academy class and won the leadership award. He was promptly hired by the Miami Township Police Department and began his civilian law enforcement career in 2007. He progressively rose through the ranks while serving in the following assignments: patrol officer, field training officer, patrol supervisor, and operations commander. Robert Hirsch was appointed as the Chief of Police in 2024 and serves on multiple committees such as the Clermont County Local Emergency Planning Committee through the Clermont County Emergency Management Agency and the Clermont County Crisis Intervention Team Advisory Committee through the Clermont County Mental Health and Recovery Board.
Robert Hirsch has an educational background consisting of a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati, and undergraduate degrees from the University of Cincinnati in both Criminal Justice and Business Accounting. He is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College (PELC), Ohio Association of Chiefs' of Police Certified Law Enforcement Executive (CLEE) program, and Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC).
Robert Hirsch is an adjunct professor with the University of Cincinnati and is also a certified instructor with the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.
Robert Hirsch has been named the Greater Cincinnati Crimestoppers' Police Officer of the Year, the Clermont County Police Officer of the Year, and the Miami Township Police Officer of the Year multiple times over his career.
Robert Hirsch is a staunch supporter of community volunteer activities, with his favorite activity being a volunteer coach for teams with both the Loveland Youth Soccer Association and the Loveland Youth Baseball Organization.
