Special Rescue Operations
Miami Twp Fire & EMS has extensive training and response ability for technical rescue situations. The department has the capability to provide expertise in Rope Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, Ice Rescue, and Lost Person Search for any department in the area that requests assistance. Multiple personnel are trained to the Technician (the highest) level in all four disciplines. All fire department personnel are trained to at least the Awareness level for technical rescue situations.
The department has recently purchased a Technical Rescue truck that is housed at the North Station on Wards Corner Rd. A rigid inflatable boat is held on top of this truck and has the capability of being quickly deployed off the sides of bridges over the Little Miami River. A second boat, a Rescue One Connector, is housed at the South Station on US 50 and is deployable from a boat ramp in downtown Milford.
Additionally, Miami Twp Fire & EMS has a Mass Casualty Incident truck which has the capability to medically treat up to 75 people in case such an extreme incident occurred. It holds all types of medical devices such as backboards, oxygen masks, and bandages as well as a UTV and command station.
