Fire Suppression
Miami Twp Fire & EMS provides comprehensive fire coverage for the entire township. The department responds to around 1000 fire calls each year, with around 60 responses being for structure fires. The remaining calls are for things such as motor vehicle accidents, vehicle fires, CO detection, animal rescues, etc.
The typical response for a structure fire is four engines, a tower (quint), command personnel and two ambulances for the rehabilitation of crews and to provide medical care for any patients or response personnel. The NFPA standard for fire responses is to have 15 personnel on the scene of a structure fire within the first eight minutes. Miami Twp Fire & EMS accomplishes this task by having a minimum of 15 personnel on duty at all times and thru the use of mutual aid departments that respond to assist.
